Choosing a toilet seat is not something many of us give a lot of thought to. Generally, the choices have been limited: white to match a white suite, colored to match the color of the suite, wooden to match a country theme or perhaps padded for those whom may need a more comfortable toilet seat.
However, today there are a tremendous number of toilet seats on the market. For those parents who are diligently trying to potty train a toddler, there are toilet seats that feature their favorite animated characters. These licensed toilet seats are designed to excite and coax a reluctant child to use the toilet. On the other end of the spectrum, you can now purchase toilet seats that automatically close. Yes – no more 2 a.m. discoveries that your roommate or significant other has left the lid up. Once the toilet has been used, and after a significant period of time has passed, then the toilet seat closes all on its own. Installing a new toilet seat is something that the average homeowner can easily do. There is no need to turn off the water or understand how plumbing works. All that is required is the right tools to loosen the bolts that attach the old toilet seat, remove it and then install the new toilet seat. From there, the old toilet seat can either be thrown away, or saved for the next yard sale – having been properly cleaned of course. If the homeowner has chosen to install a wooden toilet seat, then there are also a number of bathroom accessories that can be purchased and installed to further the country look. This includes wooden towel holders, toilet paper holders and trash bins. While it may seem overboard – and in some cases it can be overdone – when decorating a bathroom, this level of attention to detail is what can pull a space together. Another option is to also find wooden knobs for the bathroom cabinets to tie into the toilet seat style. However, if you simply have an outdated, stained or cracked toilet seat, you can still find a basic and inexpensive toilet seat at your local home improvement or hardware store. But while you are there, you can always take the time to check out the latest toilet seat options. And, for custom looks and applications, visit your local bathroom showroom. They will offer a number of bathroom suite styles, from modern to traditional to vintage, and of course, the matching toilet seat covers. However, one thing to consider when choosing an upscale toilet is that the toilet seat covers may be a slightly different size that traditional toilet seats, making replacements more expensive and challenging. |
