Cleaning Shower Enclosures

Nothing is worse than stepping into shower enclosures, expecting to take a nice, long shower, only to look around and see scum, mold, hair, and other gross things. As you will find in this article, cleaning shower enclosures does not have to be a major ordeal but it does have to be done for a more enjoyable and safer shower. When it comes to shower enclosures, one of the most dangerous and disgusting things is mold.

The problem with mold in shower enclosures or anywhere for that matter is that it can actually cause a person to become ill. Seen as black, red, or green, mold is a living fungus. The main problem is that mold grows easily, especially in places where there is moisture such as shower enclosures. Sending out tiny spores that get into the air, it is then breathed in. These spores are invisible, thriving on warm, damp surfaces. Unfortunately, in this type of environment, mold flourishes.

The good news is that no everyone has a reaction to mold from shower enclosures but some people do. Even if the reaction is not noticeable, breathing in mold while taking a shower is not healthy. For those who do have a reaction, things such as a runny nose, cough, itching, burning eyes, and even asthmas along with other respiratory problems are common. Having a problem of mold growing in shower enclosures is something that needs to be addressed and taken serious.

Again, shower enclosures are a prime attractor for mold due to the perfect dampness and temperature. In addition, shower enclosures provide many appetizing things for mold to eat. Okay, so how can you control mold in your shower? First, if you use a shower curtain, scrub it with a good disinfectant made specifically to fight mold. If the shower curtain is made from vinyl or fabric, wash it in hot water. Then, if the shower curtain can be bleached, this too will kill the mold.

Another option for cleaning mold from shower enclosures is to scrub your shower from top to bottom once a week, again with a good disinfectant. Then during the week and in between cleaning, spray on a shower spray that helps cut back the growth of mold. Theses steps are easy, making a huge difference in the appearance and health level of your bathroom. After all, shower enclosures should be clean so when you step in to shower, taking time to relax after a crazy day at the office, you want to know the space is clean and safe.
