Many homeowners prefer to have a separate bathroom shower and tub. However, if your bathroom is particularly small, you may have to incorporate both items into one unit. A run of the mill prefabricated shower bath combination is what most people immediately envision when thinking about adding a two in one solution to a bathroom. However, that need not be the case. This does not mean that you cannot enjoy an old-fashioned clawfoot tub or whirlpool bath if you need to have a bathroom shower that is part of your bath.
Homeowners can install a bathroom shower and tub that is actually two pieces. The first is the bathroom tub. The bathroom shower is then plumbed through the wall, while the surround is created out of tile in a custom mosaic pattern, which can be professionally installed, or done by the homeowner. Another consideration is plumbing attachments that hook onto a faucet and provide a shower hose for easily rinsing your hair in a bathtub. These faux bathroom shower applications come in a number of styles to match the bathroom design of almost any homeowner. And, they are well designed so not only do they not leak, but also they can actually further enhance the vintage look of a bathroom. In addition, with the help of a plumber, these types of attachments can also be used on a whirlpool bath. Of course, today’s whirlpool baths are designed small enough to even fit in the space of a tradition bathtub, making this an option for smaller bathrooms. If however there is no way that you will be able to add a bathtub to your bathroom, consider upgrading the bathroom shower for the ultimate experience. This could include installing a steam shower, to create a sauna-like experience, or adding in multiple jet heads at different levels so that water will massage areas like your shoulders and lower back – like a standing version of the whirlpool tub. Installing a bathroom shower like this is also perfect for those with limited mobility. A bathroom shower with multiple shower heads that generate steam can relieve a number of muscle aches and back pain, without the possibility of injury associated with getting in and out of a bathtub. If you are interested in any of these bathroom shower or bathtub solutions, it is recommended that you head to your nearest home improvement supper store or bathroom design showroom. Make sure that you bring along exact measurements of your bathroom and the space where your bathroom shower and/or tub would be installed. Also, bring along any pictures that you have saved of designs that you prefer to help the salesperson show you the right styles. And of course, it helps to have an idea of the amount of money that you want to spend on your new bathroom shower and / or tub handy.
