Bathroom rugs are an excellent addition to any bathroom, but generally their purchase comes after the budget has long been shot. It is no surprise that a bathroom is one of the most expensive rooms in the house to remodel, especially if essential elements—including the sink, vanity, shower, toilet, or tub—need to be replaced. Quite often, items deemed superfluous, including rugs and mirrors, are left out of the remodeling project. Before you begin your remodel or new construction on a bathroom, take these necessary extras into account when designating your budget. Tack on a couple of bucks for bathroom rugs and begin shopping for inexpensive floor coverings that will fit into the space and meet your needs.
For starters, bathroom rugs are not only for looks, but also for function, as a rug can cover high maintenance flooring materials, increase the warmth of a room, decrease the loud sounds that can bounce around a room, and prevent potentially dangerous accidents from occurring. Take all of these points into consideration before you decide to dismiss the notion of purchasing bathroom rugs and spend that portion of your budget on other items. One great aspect of bathroom rugs is that they cover the floor space. This is especially critical for individuals who have old, outdated flooring, but do not have the budget to rip out the old and install new. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on new flooring, spend a mere fraction of that on a bathroom rug. Look to your local home improvement store and purchase a length of industrial carpet in a pleasing pattern and color. Although this carpet is considered industrial and often used in businesses, schools, and shops, the selection may have your surprised. Also, since the carpet is intended for heavy traffic, it will certainly be able to hold up to the wear and tear in a bathroom. Most of these carpets can be cut to fit the dimensions of any room and are usually bound to prevent the edges from fraying. If you are looking for large bathroom rugs that will cover the majority of your floor space, consider investing in special pads to prevent the rug from slipping and sliding. Generally speaking, the smaller the size of bathroom rugs, the less their cost. If you only need rugs to serve the purpose of safety and warmth, consider against the idea of purchasing a large, room sized rug and stick with the smaller throw rugs. A visit to your local discount store will provide a wide variety of rugs in every size, shape, color, and style imaginable for much less than those rugs sold at upscale department stores. Keep in mind that these bathroom rugs are meant to be used and abused, so choosing a pricey, delicate rug is probably not your best bet. |
