Bathrobes: Choose Bathrobes as a Clever Gift

The perfect gift can be something quite elusive and mysterious, or it could be something as simple and functional as a set of bathrobes. Instead of spending time worrying and hassling over what to get a friend or family member for their birthday or holiday, consider purchasing a thick, fluffy robe to keep them warm on chilly nights or to wrap up in right out of the shower. In addition to function, bathrobes are often a great accent hanging in a bathroom, so be sure to choose a pair that will match the recipient’s bathroom design.

When it comes to which set of bathrobes to purchase, there are many options on the market. By far, the most popular type of robe is one made of terry cloth, providing a soft surface that quickly absorbs water when the robe is worn straight out of the shower. Furthermore, terry cloth tends to show less wear and tear than other materials and will not stretch out of shape when machine washed. Finally, the maintenance on terry cloth bathrobes is little more than throwing the robe in the washer and dryer to keep it clean.

However, bathrobes have a greater function than being worn out of the shower. Many individuals prefer to wear a robe over their nightclothes during the evening or morning hours. Typically, it is consider more presentable to walk outside to check the mail or the paper box while wearing a robe than it is to do the same in a pair of worn pajamas. If this is the case, consider choosing a more luxurious material to make the wearer feel like a king or queen of their castle.

Depending on the season and style, bathrobes come in a variety of materials. One of the most popular for the winter months is cashmere. A delightfully luxurious material, cashmere will keep the robe wearer warm and cozy. However, since cashmere items should typically be professional dry cleaned or washed on the gentle cycle with an appropriately gentle cleanser, this material may not be the best choice for individuals looking for a rough and tumble bathroom that they can throw in the wash. Also, cashmere robes are typically quite expensive and may be out of your gift buying budget. Look to bathrobes made of mixed fibers that mimic the softness of cashmere without the high maintenance aspects of the material.

Another popular material for bathrobes is silk. Silk is a natural fiber that, although light, is the warmest possible material. A silk robe feels deliciously comfortable and is highly breathable, making it appropriate for the warmer months without losing its warming capacity for the chilly months as well. Typically, silk bathrobes are another hurdle for budget conscious buyers, but the durability of the material will ensure the pieces last for years to come.
