Bath Robes: Create a Spa at Home with Bath Robes and Extras

Spending a day in a spa wrapped in comfortable bath robes is a luxury that will allow anyone to relax and unwind. However, everyday life prevents us from booking spa visits on a daily basis, so consider turning your bathroom into the next best thing. Spa design has quickly become one of the most popular trends in bathrooms, whether you are remodeling an old, outdated bathroom or building a new home. In essence, spa design focuses more on the atmosphere of the room and the accessories than the bathroom essentials. Consider outfitting your bathroom with plush bath robes, romantic scented candles, and pampering amenities.

For those on a budget, spa design is simple and easy, with many functional elements, including bath robes and cosmetics, taking center stage as decorations. Add shelves to display jars of nail polish, various cosmetics, containers holding cotton balls or foam wedges, and assorted bath products. Hang wall sconces to hold different size candles, which work exceptionally well if you do not have any extra counter space to spare.  Install simple hooks behind doors or on walls to provide you a spot to hang thick robes or luxurious towels that can be purchased quite inexpensively at your local discount or outlet store. Furthermore, these wall hangings act as decoration, especially if your bath robes or towels are in an accent color that best complements the wall color of your bathroom.

Another fun way of incorporating functional accessories, especially bath robes, pajamas, and bedroom slippers is to outfit a dress maker’s dummy. This is a unique way to display your items so that they are always within reach. A dress maker’s dummy can be purchased at local antique stores, neighborhood garage sales, or even from virtual outlets on the World Wide Web. For a unique, funky vibe for your bathroom, consider turning the dress maker’s dummy into a standing floor lamp. This can be done by purchasing a lamp conversion kit and a shade. Also, personalize your dummy by painting, decoupaging, or even adding sparkly jewels for accents. Or, instead of using a dummy, consider using a traditional closet valet from which to hang bath robes or other clothing items.

The great thing about spa design is that any bathroom can be transformed from ordinary to extraordinary by including simple items like bath robes and luxury bath products. Instead of spending your hard earned cash on items that may look nice in the room, but do not serve any specific function, consider splurging on items that pull double duty.  Look to bath oils, gels, salts, and lotions in decorative containers or pour your favorite products into pretty glass bottles and jars. Turn simple bath robes into thoughtful accessories by personalizing them with embroidered monograms.
